Creating an ENS declaration
Before you start
Information you will need about your movement before completing an ENS declaration:
- Location of Loading and Unloading
- Mode and identity of the transport
- The relevant party details (e.g. Consignor, Consignee etc.)
- Customs office of arrival, and expected date/time of arrival
- The countries the goods pass through on their way to the UK
- Seal numbers, if appropriate
- Goods information, e.g. commodity code, description, mass, packaging, UN dangerous goods code
Create the declaration
- Log into the ClearPort Dashboard
- Navgate to Safety & Security > Declarations
- Click on:
- Create to start with a blank declaration
- Upload to upload data from a CSV file
- Create from Template to begin with an existing template
- Create from Import(s) to populate a new declaration with data from a CDS import
- Complete each field according to the guidance in Data Fields
- Click Save
- When ready, click Submit to send the declaration to HMRC
- After a minute or two you should receive a response, either:
- Accepted,
- Rejected, or
- Do not load
- Download a PDF summary of the ENS by clicking PDF
Amending a declaration
After an ENS declaration has been submitted and accepted, it can be modified to update any fields that have changed or that have been entered incorrectly.
- Navigate to the declaration
- Click Amend
- Make the required changes
- Click Save
- Click Submit Amendment
- After a minute or two you should receive a response, either:
- Amendment accepted,
- Amendment rejected, or
- Do not load
Cancelling a declaration
ENS declarations cannot be cancelled. When goods will no longer be shipped, it is not necessary to inform HMRC.
